internet settings for
Nokia Asha Series 40 Phones
Sometimes the default network configuration settings sent by
the network provider might not work properly. This article describes the steps
for creating manual internet configuration settings for Nokia Asha and Series
40 Nokia phones.
Creating manual configuration settings also solves a problem
where Nokia Xpress Browser and other applications always automatically connect
to internet over packet data instead of Wi-Fi, which could lead to balance
deduction.
1.
Go to Settings>Configuration>Personal
settings and select Options>add new>web. You can
leave the default access point name unchanged or rename it to anything you
want.
2.
Go to menu –> settings –>
connectivity –> packet data –> packet data connection ( select always on)
then go back to packet data settings –> active access point –> Go to edit
active access point –> packet data access point (enter internet and save).
The go to menu –> settings –> configuration –> personal configuration
settings –> Add new –> fill in the values, leave username and password
empty. Go to preferred access point , select the one you’ve created and save.
That’s all
3.
Go back and add new access point.
You can leave the default access point name unchanged or rename it to anything
you want. After this, select access point>bearer settings>mob.
data acc.point. You may need add/change the access point name here. For
some operators (like "Elisa" used in this example) the default
"mob. data acc. point name" ("internet") is already the
correct one. If you have trouble finding correct value for mob. data
acc.point field, you should contact your operator. This thread also lists the APN name for many
operators around the world.
4.
Go to Settings>Configuration>"default
config. sett" and select the personal config. which
was created in step 1.
5.
Go back and click "preferred
access pt.". Here you need to select the access point (e.g. "my
access point") which you have created manually as in step 2.
6.
Go to "default in all
apps" and activate the created settings.
